Close up illustration of thick, blue-green grass stems, some of which have holes in them.

Safety Rating: Beneficial.

Environment: Wetlands.

Details: Flute Grass is a kind of slow-growing, tall wetland grass. There are different varieties that can survive in different types of wetlands. As a result, Flute Grass can be found in most of the wetlands of Eastern Crossroads.

The tall, hollow stems of Flute Grass have many tubes and holes that make beautiful sounds when the wind blows through them. The music of Flute Grass has a soothing, ethereal quality that aids in relaxation. This makes Flute Grass greatly prized, and in Eastern Crossroads it is regularly grown in parks, public spaces, and around the homes of wealthy families, though it can be tricky to cultivate.

Many believe that Flute Grass’ soothing music has a wide range of magical health benefits. Because those kind of long-term benefits are subtle magic, they are hard to test, so the exact benefits aren’t clear. However the effect of Flute Grass on anxiety and magical maladies that inhibit sleep is currently being studied.

Lore: It is believed that Flute Grass originated deep within the Blooming Marsh. The legend goes that Flute Grass was so beloved by the druids there that every time one of them moved, they took some Flute Grass with them. Over the years this spread Flute Grass to every wetland in eastern Crossroads.
